The Dental Hygiene program at Idaho State University was a spectacular experience for me.
I graduated in 2007 with the best friends a human could ask for and an education that could not be beat! Upon graduation I was hired by an incredible dentist that not only helped me further my clinical education but also allowed me to design and implement a dental hygiene program from scratch. I was allowed the autonomy and authority to use all the brains in my head and all the ideals I learned in school. Dr. Eron Evans and I built a thriving practice in a noticeably short time. I made sure to cross train for every position in the practice so that we could operate with no additional staff as well as be proficient to train new hires when the practice required more employees to serve our growing patient load. I made sure I was competent as an assistant, hygienist, receptionist and administrator.
While building that practice, I worked for another dentist in Blackfoot 1 day per week that was primarily Medicaid and Spanish speaking (fun fact, my goal is to become fluent in Spanish and I appreciate every single opportunity to practice)! Add to that a seat on the ISU Dental Hygiene Advisory Board, a clinical faculty position at ISU, and the Idaho ADHA chapter presidency and I thought I was set. My career was fulfilling and blossoming in ways I never dreamed I wanted it to.
I completely committed myself to a different approach to patient communication.
During my revelation as a clinician, I started seeing that colleagues of mine were becoming burnt out.
I saw that there were talents everywhere going unused. I saw many dentists and hygienists overwhelmed by the daily grind of patient care. I knew, in my gut, I had the answer. The new way I had been practicing clinical care was the ticket to success. Add that effective clinical approach to the teamwork I had been enjoying since day one of my time with Dr. Evans’ practice and Voila! The Magic Recipe for an unstoppable hygiene program became clear.
Predictably, life changes and I found myself being nagged by a calling to do something different. A call to move close to my family and share my Magic Recipe. So, with a heavy heart, I gave Dr. Evans my 6-month notice (that is right, a full recare cycle), that I would be leaving the practice I helped create. I began talking to any and every one that would give me a minute.
That nagging sensation of being called to do something different became louder and louder.
I knew, in my soul, that I had been given these gifts of experience as preparation to make a real difference in the dental profession. I absolutely had to share my Magic Recipe.

This company was crafted to deliver a real and positive difference to dental professionals. Drawing from a mountain of research, clinical and teaching experience, I am spreading goodness as far as I possibly can. The mantra of my professional life has become, “teaching dental professionals how to have great days while providing individualized care.” My recipe increases patient, clinician and practice health. That is right, practice bottom line increases when a team commits to my recipe! How spectacular is that? Better days, healthier lives AND more money! Is there a better combination? I have not found one yet. But believe me, when I do I will share it, too.
